The winners of the "Children are painting the world. Asia" project were awarded during the Final of International Festival that was held on 7 September 2016 in the Kazakh State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet named after Abay, in the framework of celebration of the 1000th anniversary of Almaty. The project covered 7000 young artists from China, India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The project mainly aimed at development of creative and talented youth, promotion of intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding, as well as the strengthening of friendly ties between the rising generations in the region.
The awarding ceremony for the winners and the presentation of a special album "Children are painting the world. Asia" dedicated to the celebration of the 1000th anniversary of the city of Almaty – UNESCO memorable date are the outcomes of this festival.
Event was organized by the Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs, together with the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Leader of the Nation and the Akimat of Almaty city. The project was supported by: UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office, National Commission of Kazakhstan for UNESCO and ISESCO, “Tengizchevroil”, “Total E&P Kazakhstan", "Air Astana", "Caspian Projects Supply Company", "Samsung", "Alt Sound", "Plast Invest", "Shera park Inn" hotel, "Tengrinews" and "Massaget.kz" news agencies, the "Shymbulak" ski resort and the "Kok-Tobe"mountain park.
