UNESCO launched a training of trainers course on distance education for professional lyceums in Kyrgyzstan

22 October 2020

On October 21, 2020 UNESCO Almaty in cooperation with GIZ launched an online training for teachers and masters of vocational lyceums on computer literacy and distance learning.

23 teachers from 12 vocational lyceums and the Republican Scientific-Methodical Center under the Agency for Initial Vocational Education under the Ministry of Education and Science will undergo a two-week training, in which they will strengthen their skills in computer work and basic programs to organize their classes, as well as learn how to use MOODLE to create their courses on the platform.

Trainers from UNESCO Vitaliy Nikonovich (Belarus) and Bronius Aismontas (Lithuania) work in tandem with trainers from Kyrgyzstan (from GIZ) and will not only prepare trainers, but also follow up with consultations and develop methodological instructions for the course. This guide will help 20 best trainers to continue training their colleagues from the professional lyceums on the course content. Such approach helps build local capacity, increase trainees' reach and ensure sustainability of the program.

UNESCO's initiative on training trainers of distance education is implemented to support the Ministry of Education and Science in its response to the COVID-19 crisis.
