19 July 2021
In celebration of World Youth Skills Day this year, UNESCO is launching the #SkillsCrossfit2021 Youth Challenge to improve the knowledge and skills of young people from Central Asian countries.
From 15 to 30 July, nearly 600 young girls and boys from the region are taking online courses in various professional areas within the framework of the UNESCO "CAYSPACE" platform.Every day, they fill out the tracking of their classes in special forms, take courses and receive certificates of successful completion of training.
Today, the online platform CAYSPACE offers high-quality and free trainings in 12 professional fields. Each course is developed by UNESCO consultants and presents a set of interactive video lessons, recommendations, lists of additional reading and final testing.
In addition to online learning, young participants develop networking and communication skills, English language practice and creativity.
The first 30 participants who complete all online courses and improve their skills will receive memorable gifts from UNESCO.
Why is World Youth Skills Day important?
In 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared 15 July as World Youth Skills Day, to celebrate the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship.
Since then, World Youth Skills Day events have provided a unique opportunity for dialogue between young people, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions, firms, employers’ and workers’ organizations, policy makers and development partners. Participants have highlighted the ever-increasing significance of skills as the world is embarking on a transition towards a sustainable model of development.
